The Trail Challenge Waihi on 14 November 2026 is a popular annual trail run and walk held in the historic Karangahake Gorge, Waikato.
The event is open to off-road and trail enthusiasts of all ages and abilities, with flat and fast riverside trails, glorious climbs up Mt Karangahake and through pristine native bush. Run or walk through old railway tunnels and past fascinating relics from the gold mining age.
It is the culmination of the popular Auckland Trail Run / Walk series held in some of the best off-road locations in and around the greater Auckland region.
This is a cup-free event - bring your own cup/water bottle for refilling at aid stations during the race.
