The Brighton Backyard Ultra "Running in Paradise" from 27 to 28 September 2025 is a last one standing event in Dunedin, NZ.

A Backyard Ultra is a form of ultramarathon race where competitors must consecutively run a 6.7km course in less than one hour, every hour. When each lap is completed, the remaining time within the hour is used to recover and replenish for the next hour's race. The race finishes when one person completes one more lap than anyone else.

Each lap starts at the Brighton Surf Lifesaving Club. The route then heads over the bridge to the domain, over some rocks, then down to the beach for a 2km run, before heading up to the Big Rock and finally back to the surf club for the next lap.

This event is a school fundraiser.
