The Hanmer Springs Adventure Run on 17 January 2026 presented by Hanmer Holiday Homes, is a high country trail running event.

Choose from 4 distances - 55km Ultra, 24km Adventure Run, 15km Forest Run and a 7km Adventure Fun Run. Starting and finishing in the heart of Hanmer Springs village, runners head into rugged climbs, alpine trails, and forested ridge lines before returning to town.

The 55km Ultra Marathon course takes you over Mt Isobel, Canterbury’s most climbed peak, then deep into the Hanmer Forest, with more than 2,000m of climbing across rugged ridge lines, steep forest trails and exposed alpine terrain.

The 24km course also take runners high into the hills and over Mt Isobel, with 1,587m of vertical gain. The 15km loop follows the wide, smooth trails and forestry roads of Hanmer Forest.

The shorter 7km loop winds through hillside trails and forest tracks with open views above the village.

The event is born from the legacy of the Hanmer Springs Alpine Marathon.
