The Waitomo Trail Run on 18 April 2026 is a true NZ underground and overground run or walk adventure.

With 6km, 11km, 21km and 33km course options - there's something to suit every appetite for adventure and a range of abilities.

The two longest distances start at Mangapohue natural tunnel, and traverse the most unique geological line in NZ through farmland and along DOC tracks that wind along the Marokopa River. The 21km finishes on Stubbs Farm and the 33km continues on to finish at the Waitomo Glowworm Visitors Centre.

The 11km starts and finishes on Stubbs Farm and traverses a karst-rich landscape, climbs over some limestone rock and runs through beautiful native bush on the QEII block.

Th 6km adventure starts inside the Ruakuri Caves and takes you up the spiral staircase into Ruakuri Reserve. In the reserve, you will run underneath towering limestone formations, over bridges and under short tunnels to the easy and flat Waitomo Trail to the finish line at the Waitomo Glowworm Visitors Centre.
